Medical sources: 6,000 amputation cases were recorded in the Gaza Strip

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip announced today, Tuesday, the recording of 6,000 amputation cases, in need of urgent, long-term rehabilitation programmes.

The sources explained – as reported by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) – that the percentage of children out of the total number of amputation cases is estimated at 25%, and the percentage of women is 12.7%.

He indicated that the lack of medical capabilities and supportive tools increases the suffering of the wounded. Amputees, stressing that these numbers reflect profound human suffering experienced by thousands of wounded people and their families, and highlight the urgent need for rehabilitation services and psychological and social support, especially for children who find themselves facing permanent disabilities at an early age.

On the other hand, settlers continue to fence off more citizens’ lands in the northern Jordan Valley, which increases the suffering of farmers and shepherds and threatens their source of livelihood.

The head of the village council in Al Maleh and Al Mudarib said that The Bedouin, Mahdi Daraghmeh, said that settlers continued to fence agricultural lands in the Al-Farisiya area, which is officially owned by Palestinian citizens, adding that tens of thousands of agricultural and pastoral lands have become surrounded by barbed wire, which means seizing them and depriving their owners of benefiting from them.

In the past weeks, settlers have fenced more than 2,000 dunums in areas close to Al-Farisiya, in a continuation of a series of violations. Which targets the Palestinian lands in the northern Jordan Valley.

In Jenin, the Israeli occupation army continues to close the town of Ya’bad, south of the city, and convert homes there into military barracks for the fourth day in a row.

The mayor of Ya’bad, Amjad Atatreh, explained that the occupation forces that stormed the town last Friday and closed its entrances, indicating that they are still stationed in some citizens’ homes after they were forced to evacuate them, adding that movement in the town is witnessing a clear paralysis due to the presence of The occupation and the closure of entrances, forcing people to use bumpy roads to enter and exit, stressing that some areas witnessed an interruption in services due to the occupation, and obstructing the arrival of municipal crews to repair faults.

The Directorate of Education in southern Jenin announced that the government school hours in the town of Ya’bad, today, would be transferred to electronic hours, in order to preserve the safety of students.

In a related context, the occupation forces were notified, today, of the demolition of seven agricultural rooms. In the town of Nahalin, west of Bethlehem, in a continuation of Israeli violations against the town’s residents and their property.

Wafa quoted a local source as saying that the forces stormed the areas of “Khallet Al Adas” And “Wadi Salem” And “Baniyas”, and orders were handed over to demolish agricultural rooms owned by citizens.

 

For years, the residents of Nahalin have been subjected to a series of violations that include land seizures, the establishment of settlement outposts, the theft of agricultural crops, and attacks on farmers on their lands. The town has also witnessed repeated closures of its entrances since the occupation’s aggression against the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, and preventing… People are unable to access their lands, and wastewater is pumped from the settlements towards the lands and water springs, in addition to continuous arrests and raids.

The policy of demolition and notifications continues in the town, as dozens of homes have been demolished in recent years, in addition to issuing demolition orders and halting construction for hundreds of homes, which reflects the occupation’s continued tightening pressure on the people and displacing them from their lands.
