The Population and Health Conference signs a memorandum of understanding with the State of Latvia to develop health care systems

The Ministry of Health and Population signed a memorandum of understanding with the State of Latvia, regarding cooperation in various fields of health care, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, as part of the activities of the first day of the third edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development, which will be held from November 12 to 15, 2025. 

On the sidelines of the signing, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health, welcomed his counterpart Dr. Hossam Abu Merhi, Minister of Health. Latvia, stressing that the memorandum is the culmination of growing bilateral relations, stressing that this partnership supports Egypt’s efforts in developing health care systems and achieving social justice, noting that cooperation with Latvia, with its health system based on inclusiveness and equality and its advanced expertise in digitalization, will enhance the ability of the health system in Egypt to confront health challenges and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Population, explained that the memorandum aims to Organizing relations and setting rules for mutual cooperation to ensure the provision of the best medical services, through the exchange of experiences and capacity building in the fields of education and training, by organizing integrated training programs for specialists and doctors, especially in rare specialties, with the exchange of delegations and medical expertise.

«Abdul Ghaffar&raquo added; The memorandum aims to cooperate in the field of digital transformation and pharmaceutical industries, in addition to enhancing knowledge exchange in information systems and digital transformation of the health care sector, in addition to supporting the development of the pharmaceutical and medical equipment industries through technology transfer and cooperation with drug regulatory bodies.

He continued that the memorandum also targets the areas of public health and research, by exchanging best practices in the prevention of infectious diseases, such as hepatitis C and B, and antimicrobial resistance, while supporting joint research in vital areas such as organ transplantation and nanomedicine, in addition to the health tourism file, from During the development of joint projects in this field, while benefiting from Latvian experience in managing health resorts.
