Salem bin Dasmal stressed that the successes achieved by Dubai in hosting the World Golf Championships represent an extension of a long process of development, pointing out that the current tournament reflects a vision that began years ago when the tour was known as the “European Tour”, and today it has turned into a global event that bears the imprint of Dubai, and reflects the vision of the wise leadership in developing the sport and spreading its societal culture.

He added that the UAE is among the best Arab and Asian countries in terms of national teams, explaining that the next goal is to enter the list of the top ten countries in Asia and qualify one of the Emirati players among the best 500 players in the world during the next few years.

For his part, Nawaf Abdullah stressed that the partnership between the “DB World” group and the World Golf Tour Championship, which began in 2009 and was extended until 2035, represents a successful model in supporting sports and enhancing Dubai’s position as a global destination for golf, noting that the partnership is based on a long-term strategy aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the tournament, developing talent, and supporting community and environmental initiatives.

He explained that the group continues its initiatives in the field of sustainability, as it collected about 350,000 recycled golf balls, and converted a number of old containers into training centers in South Africa and India, which contributes to supporting local communities and developing the game globally.

In the same context, Issa Sharif Al Marzouqi pointed out that golf represents one of the prominent sports pillars in Dubai, and receives great attention from the Dubai Sports Council through cooperation with the game federation, DP World Group, and the DP World Tour, stressing that the Council works to support organizing major tournaments, hosting talent, and implementing development initiatives in schools and academies.
