The Palestinian Foreign Ministry: Condemns the burning of a mosque in the West Bank by settlers in a flagrant violation of the sanctity of places of worship
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates confirmed that the settlers’ burning of a mosque between the towns of Kifl Haris and Deir Istiya, northwest of Salfit, in the northern West Bank, is a blatant violation of the sanctity of places of worship, and an expression of the deep racism that has come to govern the behavior of settlers under the auspices of the Israeli occupation government.
The Palestinian Foreign Ministry – in a statement carried by the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) today – condemned the crime, which constitutes an escalation. Dangerous and a continuation of the systematic and widespread Israeli attacks against the Palestinian, Islamic and Christian sanctities, and a direct reflection of the policies of incitement and extremism adopted by the Israeli government and its various arms, which seek to reshape the religious scene in the occupied Palestinian territory, in a way that serves its replacement colonial project and terrorizes and displaces the Palestinian people. Full and direct responsibility for this crime and its repercussions, stressing that the continued impunity of settlers constitutes a clear encouragement to repeat such attacks that aim to displace and exterminate the Palestinian people in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem, calling on the international community from all countries and international organizations to take immediate and binding measures to protect places of worship and sanctities in occupied Palestine, including the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to follow up on these heinous attacks as part of The organized attack on the Palestinian people, their sanctities, and the religious and cultural heritage.
She stressed that the State of Palestine will continue its political, legal and diplomatic action in all international forums to ensure that the perpetrators of these crimes are held accountable, and to mobilize international support for efforts to end the occupation and achieve a just peace based on international law and international legitimacy resolutions.
