The Ministers of Health of Egypt and Iraq discuss ways to enhance work in areas of joint cooperation
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, held a meeting with Dr. Saleh Mahdi Al-Hasnawi, Minister of Health of the Republic of Iraq, on the sidelines of the activities of the third edition of the World Conference on Population, Health and Human Development (PHDC’25), held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, under the slogan “Empowering Individuals… Promoting Progress… Providing Opportunities.” During the period from 12 to 15 November this year.
The two ministers stressed the depth of historical relations between the two countries and the political leadership’s keenness to develop health cooperation to serve the two peoples and enhance regional health security.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesman for the Ministry, explained that the meeting focused on training Iraqi medical personnel in Egypt, especially in infection control, microsurgery, intensive care, and emergencies, in addition to enhancing cooperation in the pharmaceutical industries by exchanging regulatory and technical expertise, facilitating the registration of Egyptian preparations in Iraq, and benefiting from the Egyptian experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, while transferring expertise in developing health infrastructure and establishing hospitals.
The meeting also discussed cooperation in preventive medicine and combating infectious diseases such as viral hepatitis, hemorrhagic fever, and respiratory diseases, in addition to health digital transformation through information systems, electronic records, and telemedicine. After. In training, family health, rehabilitation, and epidemiological surveillance.
The Iraqi Minister of Health praised the Egyptian competence in implementing health projects inside Iraq, and the great confidence in Egyptian medicine, expressing his aspiration to expand the partnership to include mental health and scientific research.
