"Energy for services" and"Sedira" They launch a building rehabilitation project in the residential city of Aryam in the ICAD area

ABU DHABI, 14 November / WAM / TAQA Services, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA), announced the signing of an agreement with the Sedira Group, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Ports Group, to implement one of the largest building rehabilitation projects in the field of energy and water efficiency in the emirate, in the Aryam Residential City in the ICAD area in Musaffah in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

This partnership was announced for the first time during the World Utilities Conference 2023, while the implementation agreement was signed during the activities of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2025), in the presence of Khaled Mohammed Al Qubaisi, CEO of TAQA Services, and Abdul Aziz Bawazir, CEO of Sedira Group, along with a number of senior officials and sector leaders.

This project, which extends over a period of 14 months, represents one of the largest ambitious initiatives to rehabilitate residential buildings belonging to the service sector in Abu Dhabi, which reflects the accelerating pace of transformation towards sustainability and efficiency in the emirate’s urban environment.

As part of the project, TAQA Services is developing heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, employing advanced energy monitoring and control technologies, and providing innovative solutions to save water in eight residential complexes in addition to a commercial center, with the aim of improving operational efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing the quality of life in the residential city of Aryam in the ICAD area.

Khaled Al Qubaisi stressed that the partnership with the Sedira Group represents a pivotal step towards developing an advanced and energy-efficient infrastructure in the emirate, in line with the Abu Dhabi Strategy for Energy and Water Efficiency 2030 and the UAE Climate Neutrality 2050 initiative. This partnership also contributes to advancing sustainable growth, while preserving vital natural resources.

The rehabilitation project in the residential city of Aryam in the ICAD region is expected to achieve tangible environmental and economic benefits, while reducing carbon emissions by about 17,000 tons annually, and saving approximately 12 million dirhams. These resources will also be reinvested in the program, which contributes to creating a sustainable cycle of efficiency and innovation.

For his part, Abdul Aziz Bawazir said that sustainability is an essential element in the Sedira Group’s business model, and cooperation with Taqa Services Company embodies the shared commitment to preserving the environment, in line with the process of economic development.

He added that Aryam Residential City in the ICAD area is one of our most prominent residential communities designated for employees, as it includes more than 58,000 residents, while the rehabilitation work will contribute to improving the living environment in general, not only by reducing utility consumption and costs, but also by enhancing our ability to serve our communities better.

The project is expected to achieve significant benefits for society, by reducing electricity consumption by 36 gigawatt-hours annually, reducing water consumption by more than 616 thousand cubic meters, and preventing emissions equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of more than 250 thousand trees over ten years.

In addition to these tangible results, the project contributes to enhancing the effectiveness of systems, improving air quality, and increasing levels of comfort and reliability for residents, and is a model of how sustainability investments can make a direct impact on improving the quality of life.

Aryam Residential City in the ICAD area, owned and managed by the “Eskan” company, plays a pivotal role in the urban landscape of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The transformation of this pioneering project contributes to consolidating its position as a role model for sustainable residential communities, highlighting how modernizing facilities and infrastructure can achieve wide-ranging social, environmental and economic benefits.
