The National Council for Childhood and Motherhood announced its intervention in the incident of the Ismailia girl, and taking the necessary measures to ensure the protection and safety of the girl, within the framework of the national role played by the Council in protecting children from all forms of violence, exploitation and neglect.
The Council’s General Department of Child Protection monitored a video clip circulating on social media sites, which includes a call for help regarding the exploitation of a 9-year-old girl in begging by Her parents showed signs of severe beating.
Immediately, Dr. Sahar Al-Sunbati, President of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, directed urgent intervention to verify the incident and take the necessary measures to protect the child.
The Council addressed the Office for the Protection of Children, Persons with Disabilities and the Elderly in the Public Prosecutor’s Office, to begin a judicial investigation into the incident, and a report was drawn up.
The Thani Ismailia Prosecution Office began its investigations, which resulted in the arrest of the father and mother accused of exploiting the child.
Dr. Wael Abdel Razek, Secretary-General of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood, said that the child protection subunit in the Thani Ismailia district moved to the site of the report and conducted an integrated study of the case, It turned out that the child had another brother who was 5 years old.
The Child Protection Unit recommended that the two children be handed over to their paternal grandmother, taking the necessary pledge to ensure their good care and providing a safe environment for them, in addition to obtaining birth certificates for the two children to legalize their conditions, in addition to the necessity of a medical examination for them, to check on their health condition, and to ensure that they have not been exposed to any Damages.
Sabry Othman, Director of the General Administration for Child Help, appealed to citizens to contact the child helpline 16000 in the event of any violation that may endanger the lives of children, or through the WhatsApp application on the number (01102121600), stressing that protecting children is a national responsibility, and that the Council will always remain the bulwark against any violations that children may be exposed to, and will continue its efforts to guarantee every child’s right to safety.
