Khaled Al-Nabawi: "I refused to wear inappropriate clothing for my foreign work"

The artist Khaled El Nabawy spoke about director Youssef Chahine’s ability to create the appropriate climate for work, during the dialogue session currently being held by the Cairo International Film Festival in its 46th session, after he was awarded the Faten Hamama Award for Excellence by the festival for this year’s session

Khaled Al-Nabawi said: " Director Youssef Chahine is the true inspiration. He knows how to deal very well with the single unit, not just the actor, but the eye, the hand, and every part he has.".

He emphasized that the word "action" For Youssef Chahine, it is part of the scene and his feelings and reflects his influence on it. He explained that he enjoyed working with Youssef Chahine, so he would act with the character from behind the camera, explaining: “I felt like I was in another time".

Al-Nabawi added: “When I was offered the movie Al-Migrant, I had signed a contract for a disco movie with director Enas Al-Deghaidy, but she told me to pay money to Youssef Chahine, who is more important than me, and when I told her that I had signed a contract, she said, ‘I will break this contract.’”

The artist Khaled Al-Nabawi also revealed his constant keenness to appear in a decent appearance in his foreign works, rejecting the insistence of clothing designers on him appearing in poor clothes that do not befit his Arab image. 

He said that he was reviewing the most famous directors in the world on the details of foreign war actions, and correcting their ideas with what was mentioned in our real and Islamic history, such as the idea of ​​tayammum, taking prisoners and other false ideas.
