The Foreign Minister discusses bilateral relations with his Chadian counterpart

Dr. Badr Abdel Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, today, Sunday, praised the momentum witnessed in relations between Egypt and Chad, and the mutual keenness to strengthen relations and advance them to broader horizons.

This came during the Minister of Foreign Affairs’ reception, today, Sunday, of his Chadian counterpart, Abdullah Saber Fadl, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Chad, on the sidelines of the meetings of the joint committee between the two countries, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on issues of common interest.

 

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to continuously work to strengthen relations with Chad in all fields, which was reflected in high-level visits, most notably his visit accompanied by a delegation of businessmen in December 2024, and the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport in February 2025 with a delegation of businessmen, which reflects the serious Egyptian interest in advancing cooperation between the two countries in relevant fields. Priority.

 

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Dr. Abdel Aty stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in various fields, especially military cooperation in the field of training and building cadres of the Chadian security forces. He praised the existing great cooperation between the two countries in infrastructure projects in Chad, especially the (Egypt-Libya-Chad) road, and road construction projects and the maintenance and recycling of materials used in existing roads. He also stressed the government’s interest in increasing trade exchange with Chad in order to achieve common interests.

 

 

In a related context, the Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to the ongoing preparations to send an Egyptian medical convoy in the field of eye surgery during the month of next December to perform 500 operations in the city of N’Djamena, and the preparation to provide Egyptian medicine and medical supplies to the Chadian side at competitive prices, noting the importance of completing the headquarters of the University of Alexandria in N’Djamena, and starting the work of the new headquarters as soon as possible in order to achieve the interest. Shared.

 

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs reviewed the training courses and capacity building programs organized by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development and the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Preservation and Peacebuilding in the fields of security, dispatching experts, border management, combating human trafficking, cross-border threats, combating terrorism and extremist ideology, disarmament and reintegration, and climate, peace and security.

 

 

The meeting witnessed an exchange of views on the most prominent regional issues of common interest, most notably the situation in the Sahel and the Horn of Africa, and developments in Sudan, where the Foreign Minister stressed the importance of a ceasefire and creating conditions to launch a comprehensive political process that preserves Sudan’s unity, sovereignty and stability.

 

 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs noted the results of his recent visit to Sudan on November 11, calling for concerted regional and international efforts to support the Sudanese people and their national institutions.

 

 

He also stressed the unity and sovereignty of Libya, and the importance of supporting Libyan national efforts within the framework of the principle of exclusive Libyan ownership of the political settlement, stressing the importance of supporting all efforts aimed at forming a unified government that works to create the appropriate conditions for holding the electoral entitlement in Libya, and the importance of strengthening the role of legitimate Libyan institutions, especially the House of Representatives, to fulfill all necessary frameworks for holding simultaneous presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible, in compliance with the terms of reference for resolving the crisis. Libya, including relevant Security Council resolutions.
