The Board of Trustees of the UAE University concludes its annual retreat in Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, November 20 / WAM / The Board of Trustees of the United Arab Emirates University held its annual retreat, headed by His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh, Cultural Advisor to His Highness the President of the State, Supreme President of the University, on the 19th and 20th of this November at the Park Hyatt Hotel on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi.

The Board of Trustees reviewed a group of presentations on integrating artificial intelligence into strategic projects, academic programs and research centers at the UAE University.

Artificial intelligence experts provided insights into the latest global trends in this field within leading educational institutions, while the presentations highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in supporting innovation education, enhancing research productivity, developing student support systems, in addition to raising institutional efficiency.

The Board of Trustees praised the university’s remarkable progress in adopting artificial intelligence as a key enabler of academic and administrative transformation.

The Council reviewed the presentation related to the financial model for the year 2030, which reflects future paths for financial sustainability, strategies for diversifying sources of income, and financial priorities that support the transformational agenda of the UAE University, ensuring the continued expansion of its academic and research achievements.

The Council discussed the remarkable progress achieved by the university in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026, where it rose to the 201-250 category compared to the 251-300 category in the previous year.

The most notable progress achieved by the university was in the research quality axis, as the university ranked 82nd globally compared to 139th last year. It also witnessed remarkable progress in global reputation and societal influence, and rose in the employability 2026 axis in the Times classification to rank 225, advancing five places, which reflects the growing confidence of employers in the university’s graduates.

In the QS Sustainability Rankings 2026, which includes more than 2,000 institutions globally, the university ranked 318th globally and 54th in Asia, advancing from 343rd globally and 58th in Asia last year. It also maintained its position as the best universities in the UAE in three main axes: environmental impact, social impact, and governance.

The Board of Trustees approved strategic key performance indicators and corresponding performance targets, which will drive the implementation of the university’s 2027–2029 strategy.

The Council also approved the creation of two new academic programs: Bachelor of Science in Space Sciences and Bachelor of Arts in History and Archeology.

His Excellency Zaki Anwar Nusseibeh expressed his gratitude to the Council members, committee chairs and speakers for their valuable contributions, noting that the retreat decisions establish a solid foundation for enhancing the university’s continued progress and developing its national impact.
