Converted World Geographic Information Systems Day2025, in the presence of the University’s Vice President for Business and Knowledge Creativity, Dr. Mohammed Al-Amoudi, in an event that attracted more than 2,500 participants.
The event, which comes as part of a global movement that began in 1999, focused on integrating Artificial intelligence with spatial data to enhance decision-making, as the halls witnessed in-depth dialogues about “geospatial intelligence” and its pivotal role in urban planning and building sustainable smart cities.
Live experiences
The events were characterized by the transition from academic theories to tangible practical application, as attendees went through live experiences using drones and virtual reality technologies (VR), in addition to advanced technical workshops that reviewed the mechanisms of converting aerial images into 3D models. minutes.
The accompanying exhibition witnessed an exceptional student movement, as a team of 100 male and female students led the organization of the event, which included the presentation of more than 50 innovative geospatial projects, and presented 10 specialized workshops, which reflects the mastery of young national cadres with the tools of the digital future.
A remarkable step
The university extended bridges of communication with the public education sector in a remarkable step, as the college corridors welcomed Delegations from 35 schools included field visits to 21 schools, with an average of 40 students per delegation, to introduce new students to the specialty of geomatics and open their minds to modern mapping techniques.
The events concluded with the participating experts and academics confirming that geographic information systems are no longer just tools for drawing maps, but rather have become an essential pillar for improving the quality of life and managing resources, stressing that the future will witness a deeper integration between spatial data and smart solutions to support the Kingdom’s development vision.
