The Palestinian Prime Minister calls for immediate support for the general budget for 6 months

The Palestinian Prime Minister, Muhammad Mustafa, called on the group of donor countries and international partners for Palestine to put pressure to ensure the release of withheld clearing revenues, and to provide immediate and direct support to the general budget for a period of six months, as announced in the emergency mechanism by Saudi Arabia, France, Norway and Spain.

The Palestinian News Agency “Wafa” reported today, Thursday, that this came during his speech at a meeting of the group of donor countries and international partners, which was held at the headquarters of the Palestinian Authority. The European Commission in the Belgian capital, Brussels, with the participation of more than 60 countries and international institutions.

 

Mustafa stressed the need for additional donors to participate in financing, in addition to making efforts to protect the Palestinian financial system by maintaining correspondent banking lines with Israel, raising the ceiling for repatriating annual funds in shekels, supporting the Gaza reconstruction structure led by the Palestinian National Authority, and providing the trust fund with early pledges, starting with the needs of the recovery phase. It is important that these steps will contribute to ensuring the continued provision of services, make the reconstruction of Gaza serious and real, and protect the two-state solution.
