Muslim Council of Elders: Protecting children’s rights is a religious, moral and humanitarian necessity

The Council of Muslim Elders, headed by the Grand Imam A. D. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, said that protecting the rights of children is a religious, moral and humanitarian necessity that contributes to building more stable, just and peaceful societies, noting that investing in children is an investment in the future of nations, and stressing the need for concerted international and societal efforts to ensure the security, safety and well-being of children everywhere.

The Council of Muslim Elders said, in a statement on the occasion of Universal Children’s Day, which falls on November 20 of each year, that children constitute The basic pillar of society, and that preserving their rights is a shared responsibility to ensure that they obtain their full rights to education, health care, and protection from violence and neglect, pointing to the importance of providing a safe and balanced environment for young people that contributes to developing their abilities and building personalities capable of making a positive contribution to society.

The Council of Muslim Elders pointed to the pivotal role of the family in promoting moral and human values in the souls of children, and consolidating the principles of compassion, dialogue, and mutual respect, calling for intensifying efforts to protect Children affected by conflicts, disasters and poverty, and providing them with the necessary support to ensure a decent life and fair opportunities for learning and development, in line with the contents of the historic Document on Human Fraternity signed by the Grand Imam A. D. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and the late Pope Francis, former Pope of the Catholic Church, which places human dignity and the right to a safe life at the top of its priorities.

The Council of Muslim Elders pays great attention to children and young people through its programs and initiatives aimed at consolidating the values of human brotherhood and peaceful coexistence, and supporting educational and educational initiatives that instill in them the principles of compassion, cooperation, and respect for others, and protect them against extremist ideas. and hatred, and helps them contribute positively to building more just and equitable societies.
