" Integrated transportation" Truck movement is prohibited on Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid and Al Raha Beach Streets

Abu Dhabi, November 21 / WAM / The Integrated Transport Center, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced the activation of the decision to ban the movement of heavy vehicles on Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Street (E11) and Al Raha Beach Street (E10). Truck movement will also be prohibited during peak hours along Al Rawdah Road in the Musaffah area (from the bridge complex to the truck bridge in both directions on the E30 road), starting from the first of next December.
The decision comes in the context of a comprehensive plan implemented by the Center to regulate traffic in Abu Dhabi and ensure the smooth flow of movement on roads that witness a high density of vehicle traffic, which contributes to raising levels of traffic safety, reducing congestion and accidents, and enhancing the efficiency of the vital road network that serves various regions and major destinations in the emirate.
The decision to ban the movement of trucks on these main roads aims to reduce traffic pressure and improve the daily transportation experience for road users, especially during peak times when the streets witness a high density of private vehicles and public buses.
The Center indicated that, as part of implementing the decision to ban the movement of heavy vehicles on Sheikh Maktoum Bin Rashid Street and Al Raha Beach, the Al Faya – Saih Shuaib Road (E75) and Al Haffar Road were identified as two alternative routes for the movement of heavy vehicles, as they were prepared to accommodate the safe and smooth passage of trucks, ensuring the continuation of commercial activity and the transport of goods without affecting traffic within the city.
The Center also stated that truck traffic will be prohibited from using Al Rawdah Road (E30) in the Musaffah Industrial Area, from the bridge complex to the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road intersection during the morning and evening peak periods, and the alternative route will be used via the ICAD Bridge, which will limit interference with light vehicles and enhance the flow of traffic in the area.
Engineer Abdullah Hamad Al-Eryani, Acting Executive Director of the Planning and Strategic Affairs Sector at the Integrated Transport Center, confirmed that the decision reflects the Centre’s keenness to enhance the efficiency of the road network and achieve the highest standards of traffic safety, explaining that this step comes in line with Abu Dhabi Vision 2030, which aims to develop an integrated and sustainable transportation system that supports the comprehensive development process in the emirate.
He added that the Integrated Transport Center is continuously working to implement specific initiatives aimed at improving traffic flow and providing a safe and environmentally friendly transport environment and society, noting that banning the movement of heavy vehicles on some vital axes comes within a studied methodology that takes into account the balance of traffic safety requirements with the needs of commercial and service transport.
The Center called on all drivers of heavy vehicles and transport companies to fully adhere to traffic instructions and information signs placed on the relevant roads, stressing the importance of cooperation to ensure the implementation of the decision smoothly and safely, and to achieve the desired goal of preserving the safety of all road users and improving the quality of life.
