Photos| Heavy rain hits Southern California and flash flood warnings

Wide areas of southern California Heavy rain fell yesterday, Friday, prompting the US Weather Service to issue new warnings of flash floods and mudslides in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The warnings covered areas extending from downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica to Mission Viejo in Orange County, with rainwater running like streams in the streets of the coastal city of Huntington Beach, and many vehicles stuck in the water near Culver City.

The The National Weather Service said that a series of storms that began on November 13 caused rainfall exceeding four times the normal average for November in central Los Angeles, putting the region on the cusp of breaking the record for the wettest November.
