A researcher in terrorism affairs praises the trend "Washington" Towards a blockade of the Brotherhood’s financing

Ahmed Atta, a researcher on terrorism affairs at the Middle East Forum, said in an exclusive statement to Rosalyoussef Gateway, commenting on US President Donald Trump’s announcement: Nearing the completion of the official procedures to classify the Muslim Brotherhood as a foreign terrorist organization, the American move came too late, explaining that the delay in the confrontation was allowing the organization to increase its influence in any country in which it is present, by financing terrorist operations.
He pointed out that the Trump administration, during his first term in 2019, had begun the first serious attempts to include the group on terrorist lists.
He added that the current steps of the US State Department are more serious, as lists are being prepared that include more than 3,000 economic and financial institutions linked to the group, in about 20 American states, varying between large, medium and small companies.
He explained that the inventory process will be followed by detailed reports, submitted to the American administration, about the volume of economic activity of those entities, and the impact of freezing them if the decision to include them on terrorist lists is issued.
Atta pointed out that declaring the group a terrorist group means freezing bank accounts and stopping activities. The business activities of the Brotherhood leaders, within the United States of America, in preparation for the imposition of sanctions by the State Department or the US Treasury, as happened in similar models. $25 billion, which is a limited number compared to the American economy, and is not equivalent to 5% of the budget of a single federal state.
Atta explained that the greatest impact will fall on the international organization itself, which depends on a portion of the profits of these institutions to support the Brotherhood factions in some countries.
