The Minister of Electricity casts his vote in the 2025 House of Representatives elections

Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, cast his vote today in the 2025 House of Representatives elections, at Al-Manara School in Nasr City.

 

During his participation in the elections, Ismat stressed the importance of participating in the 2025 House of Representatives elections, explaining that the Ministry of Electricity made a great effort to secure electrical power inside the electoral headquarters.

At nine o’clock in the morning on Monday, polling stations began their work to receive voters wishing to cast their votes in the second phase of the House of Representatives elections, which are being conducted under the supervision of advisors to judicial bodies, and will continue for two consecutive days amid follow-up by various civil society organizations and local and international media.

 

The second phase of the parliamentary elections includes 13 governorates: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai.

 

The number of voters who are entitled to cast their votes is 34 million, 611 thousand and 991 voters, distributed among 73 electoral districts that include 5,287 sub-polling committees, while the number of candidates running in the individual system at this stage is 1,316 candidates, competing for 141 individual seats, in addition to one electoral list in the East Delta sector, and the Cairo and South sectors. And the middle of the Delta, for the seats allocated to the electoral list system.

The advisors to the State Cases Authority and the Administrative Prosecution Authority, heads of the sub-polling committees, had received the headquarters of the committees since the early morning and inspected them and ensured the availability of all requirements for conducting the electoral process, especially with regard to papers, documents, minutes of procedures and voter lists. They opened the electoral boxes to ensure that they were completely free of any papers in advance, then closed them with plastic code locks. Especially.

 

Police forces were also present to secure the polling station headquarters and their surroundings, and work to protect them, so that voters cast their votes in a safe and reassuring atmosphere.

 

The National Elections Authority was keen to provide many facilities that would facilitate citizens’ exercise of their constitutional right to vote, especially the elderly and people with special needs, by identifying most of the sub-polling committees on the ground floors of the electoral centers, and providing the centers with information panels that include the quick response code " QR Code "  QR code"  " So that the voter can conduct a survey via mobile phone to obtain additional information regarding voting controls and mechanisms, in addition to awareness materials regarding the mechanisms for expressing opinion, in order to facilitate the voting process.

 

The National Elections Authority also provided the ballot card in the sign alphabet, in order to enhance the knowledge of people with hearing disabilities about the electoral process, in addition to having a “Braille” card. Designed for people with visual disabilities, it includes electoral instructions that facilitate the voting process for them, as well as placing a note on each ballot card about the number of seats to be chosen in each electoral district, enabling citizens to cast the electoral vote correctly, and so that the electoral vote is not invalidated if a number less or more than the required number is chosen.

 

The electoral process is being carried out under the follow-up of many missions of international organizations, most notably: the League of Arab States, the African Union, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Arab Organization for Electoral Administrations, and the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, in addition to local civil society organizations and local, Arab and international media.
