The Nigerian President declares a security emergency after kidnapping incidents

Declare Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu declared a nationwide security emergency, and ordered the recruitment of additional members to the security forces after the kidnapping of more than 350 people in the past ten days.
The police will employ 20,000 members, bringing their total number to 50,000, according to a statement issued by the president.
Kidnappings
The largest African country in terms of population has been under severe pressure recently in the wake of kidnappings. KidnappingNo one claimed responsibility for it and it affected hundreds of people, including more than 300 students and teachers from a Catholic school in Babiri, Niger State (central west), 25 Muslim schoolgirls in Maga, Kebbi State (northwest), 38 worshipers in a church in Iroko and ten others in Espa, Kwara State (west), as well as 13 girls in Borno State (northeast).
Tinubu said: "The Nigerian domestic intelligence agency has also obtained my permission to immediately deploy all trained forest guards to eliminate Terroristsand bandits sheltering in our forests".
The President added that "The agency was also instructed to recruit more men to monitor the forests".
