An official statement issued by the Attorney General of the United Arab Emirates

Abu Dhabi, November 27 / WAM / The Office of the Attorney General of the United Arab Emirates announced that the Attorney General held a telephone call with the Turkish Attorney General, during which he expressed the readiness of the Public Prosecution in Turkey to enhance judicial cooperation and develop joint communication channels between the two sides.
Regarding the allegations that were circulated in some media outlets about the seizure of illegal espionage activity in Istanbul, and the attribution of those allegations to the UAE, the Turkish Public Prosecutor confirmed that he had contacted the competent authorities in Turkey, including the Istanbul Public Prosecutor’s Office, and was notified that the information circulating about the existence of an espionage operation was (incorrect).
According to what was confirmed by the Turkish Public Prosecutor, the Turkish Public Prosecution has proven that there is no illegal activity or any suspicious behavior attributed to the UAE or its citizens.
He explained that he moved to the headquarters of the Public Prosecution in Istanbul and met with the Attorney General of Istanbul in the presence of officials from the relevant security authorities, where the information circulating was quickly reviewed and that security officials confirmed that no suspicious actions had been detected by UAE citizens.
The Turkish Attorney General added that, with regard to the content published through the media and social media platforms, he issued instructions to the relevant authorities to remove news and information that raised suspicions towards the UAE, after verifying the incorrectness of what was circulated.
In a related context, the Attorney General of the UAE praised what was contained in the statement issued today by His Excellency the Turkish Minister of Justice regarding the progress of the investigations in Istanbul, explaining that what was stated in the statement is consistent with what was discussed in the phone call with the Turkish Attorney General, and demonstrates the keenness of the Turkish authorities to clarify the facts as they are, and cut the way for rumours.
