500 startup companies joined the Dubai Entrepreneurs headquarters

The Acting Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Establishment for Small and Medium Enterprises Development, Ahmed Al-Roum Al Muhairi, revealed that 500 startup companies have joined the Dubai Entrepreneurs Headquarters since its opening last October, while 1,300 entrepreneurs have registered to benefit from the headquarters’ services, including 100 Emirati entrepreneurs, noting that the headquarters is one of the pillars of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33).

Al Muhairi said, during a media tour of the headquarters yesterday, that “The Dubai Entrepreneurs Headquarters aims to support the entrepreneurship system in the emirate, by encouraging cooperation, coordinating efforts, and stimulating growth in various sectors. Through it, we seek to consolidate Dubai’s position as a global destination for innovation, by empowering entrepreneurs and supporting the success of their companies.”

He added, “The headquarters provides a world-class work environment, opportunities, tools and resources that allow entrepreneurs to turn them into successful projects, in addition to advanced programs that enhance Dubai’s position as an ideal platform for launching business and innovation,” pointing out that more than 25 partners from the public and private sectors have joined the headquarters, including venture capital companies, financial services, communications, and innovation incubators, which enhances its role within the innovation system in Dubai.

He stated that the headquarters contributes to achieving the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), the most prominent of which is supporting the growth of 30 startup companies to become “unicorn” companies worth more than one billion dollars, in addition to helping 400 small and medium companies expand internationally by 2033.

Regarding the business accelerator program, Al Muhairi said: “We launched the business accelerator program, in cooperation with Plug and Play, with the aim of empowering entrepreneurs and providing them with the tools, expertise, and networks of relationships necessary to expand locally and globally.”

He added: “The program is being implemented in cooperation with governmental and semi-governmental entities, including Emirates Aviation Catering, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai, Dubai Health, Dubai Police, and Dubai Municipality, as these entities work to identify their challenges to provide the opportunity for Emirati companies to develop innovative solutions for them.”

Al Muhairi stressed, “This methodology enhances cooperation between the public and private sectors, gives government agencies greater access to local innovations, and enables Emirati entrepreneurs to develop solutions that meet market needs.”

He said: “We connect entrepreneurs with investors and government agencies to ensure that they receive the support they need at the various stages of their growth,” adding: “We focus on the technology sector, and the biggest challenges facing entrepreneurs is financing, so we work with financial institutions, banks, and risk capital companies to enable them and build global companies by 2033.”

In addition, Saeed Al Gergawi, Vice President of the Dubai Chamber for Digital Economy, said that the headquarters of Dubai entrepreneurs has witnessed rapid growth in a short period, which reflects its attractiveness for companies operating in advanced and fast-growing sectors.

He added: “The technology sector is today the fastest growing in the world, and most of the billion-dollar companies (unicorns) emerge from this sector. The ingredients in Dubai are there, and our role is to help companies and entrepreneurs reach the global level from the emirate.”

Al Gergawi stressed that the Dubai Chamber for the Digital Economy is working to support companies in the digital and technological fields, whether by increasing the digital economy’s contribution to the local product, or helping companies establish and grow their businesses within Dubai.

He pointed out that the economies of the future depend mainly on emerging companies in the technical and digital sectors.

He said: “Our role as a chamber of commerce is to support companies, strengthen the system, link the government and private sectors, and work between them to empower companies and ensure the readiness of the regulatory environment.”

He added: “We are building an integrated system under one roof that allows companies and entrepreneurs to grow, innovate and expand globally from Dubai, by connecting innovative entrepreneurs with promising business opportunities, and aims to enable emerging and ambitious companies to make a long-term impact in strategic sectors that support the emirate’s future growth. By connecting global talent with leading institutions, the program strengthens Dubai’s role as a bridge linking ideas and markets, and establishes its position as the first destination for investment in the digital economy.”
