Barcelona President: Real Madrid are obsessed with us

Barcelona club president Joan Laporta today harshly criticized Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, after speaking a few days ago about the “Negrira” case in which the Catalan club is accused of paying bribes to the former vice president of the referees committee in Spain.
Perez pointed out at the time that Barcelona’s involvement in this case cast doubt on the Catalan team’s right to the titles it had won in recent years, especially since the period of payments coincided with a golden era in the club’s history.
Laporta said in statements reported by the Catalan newspaper “Sport”: “In Madrid, they have an obsession with the best era in Barcelona’s history. They did not like that Barcelona was a global reference between 2004 and 2015, when it was dominant.”
He added: “They want to find justifications that lead to nothing. We were the team that played the best football, we won many titles, and the world admired our playing style, so do not look for excuses for the losers.”
He stressed: “If they are in Madrid talking about Barcelona at their general assembly meeting, this is a good thing, because it means that they are obsessed with Barcelona, ​​and perhaps they do this to avoid talking about other matters, but we will not allow anyone to attack our club in this way.”
He stated: “They are present at every moment in the judicial process of Negrera’s case, and they exaggerate the matter because they know that there is nothing there, but it is a way to justify something that is not true.”
