Under the patronage of accountant Abbas Saber, President of the General Union of Petroleum Workers, the union held the regular meeting of the Secretariat of People of Determination at its headquarters in Cairo, as part of its ongoing efforts to support and empower workers with disabilities within the petroleum sector and enhance their effective participation in the workplace.
The meeting witnessed wide participation from representatives of the Secretariat of People of Determination in various petroleum sector companies, who were keen to provide practical visions that contribute to developing support mechanisms and overcoming the challenges facing workers. The meeting was chaired by Muhammad Yousry, vice president of the union and supervisor of the secretariat of people of determination, in the presence of Dr. Mahmoud Al-Qamati, Secretary of the Secretariat, Mahmoud Hassan, Assistant Secretary of the Secretariat, and Mohamed Mahmoud, Assistant Secretary of the Secretariat.
During the meeting, Mohamed Yousry confirmed that the Secretariat is working to enhance direct communication with workers with disabilities and unify efforts between the union and companies to ensure the provision of appropriate support to them, indicating that the next stage will witness the launch of initiatives aimed at developing their skills and improving their participation opportunities within the workplace, thus enhancing their role as an essential element in the system. Dr. presented Mahmoud Al-Qamati gave a presentation about the programs that the secretariat is working on, while Muhammad Mahmoud explained that the new database will contribute to directing support with greater accuracy.
He also pointed out the launch of direct communication channels with workers with disabilities to receive suggestions and complaints.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the attendees agreed to develop an executive plan aimed at improving the support services provided to workers with disabilities within the sector, and enhancing their integration and empowerment in line with the state’s strategy and the policies of the petroleum sector.
