George Clooney reveals the biggest failure he learned from in his life…a movie in the 1990s

 

George Clooney revealed the professional setback, which he considers the most influential and educational of his career. The 64-year-old actor frankly shared, during a group interview at the Los Angeles premiere of his latest film, “Jay Kelly,” that he believes failure, not success, is the greatest teacher. This confession came while he was talking about a specific film from the nineties, which he had repeatedly criticized.

Clooney noted that the 1997 film, “Batman and Robin,” was a great learning experience for him. Despite the harsh criticism of the film, which received 11 Razzie Award nominations and a very low rating of 11% on the Rotten Tomatoes website, Clooney sees in it a valuable lesson. He said: “You don’t learn from success, you learn from failure, and then you have to discover the way, and this is very useful.”

Clooney did not hesitate to admit his faults with the film, criticizing his performance as Batman/Bruce Wayne and the film’s overall quality over the years. In 2019, he frankly described the film as a “failure,” which prompted him to re-evaluate his approach to his work within the film industry, and this led him to choose projects more carefully to show his true abilities.

After “Batman and Robin,” Clooney chose films such as: “Three Kings,” “Out of Sight,” and “Or Brother, Where Do You Art?” (O Brother, Where Art Thou?) To prove his skill as an actor. His efforts paid off when he received critical acclaim for his role in the movie “Serana” in 2005, which earned him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, an important achievement that marked a turning point in his career and strengthened his reputation as a multi-talented actor.

Clooney said: “You cannot move freely as you did before.” Amal and I had to change our goals for the places we visit. “I enjoyed going to dangerous places, such as the Nuba Mountains, Darfur, and Abyei, where there were war zones, and that gave me a feeling of excitement.”

He added: “As for Amal, she spent two years in a hideout in Beirut pursuing legal cases, and we must make decisions not to take such risks, now that we have two children. “We had to modify what the rules were previously.”

This statement indicates the major changes in Clooney’s lifestyle after becoming a father. Focusing on safety and risk awareness has become a top priority, rather than indulging in risk-taking and dangerous challenges, which were part of his previous life as an adventurer and activist.
