The first meeting of the cooperation committee for the strategic partnership between the UAE and Azerbaijan was held

ABU DHABI, 1st December / WAM / His Excellency Saeed Al Hajri, Minister of State, and His Excellency Yalchin Refayev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, chaired the first meeting of the Cooperation Committee for the Strategic Partnership between the UAE and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Abu Dhabi, with the participation of senior officials from both sides.

The holding of the Strategic Committee reflects the depth of the partnership and the shared strategic vision between the two countries and their commitment to enhancing cooperation in priority sectors through an institutional framework aimed at achieving effective and sustainable progress.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the most prominent achievements achieved during the year 2025, which in turn contributed to consolidating relations between the UAE and Azerbaijan, especially the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, the announcement of the comprehensive strategic partnership and high-level mutual visits, including the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him” in September 2025, and the visit of His Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in July 2025.

The two sides agreed to establish subcommittees in key sectors including diplomacy and politics, economic cooperation, defence, law enforcement, humanitarian affairs (education, culture, and advanced technology), and energy cooperation and sustainability.

The two sides discussed the mechanism for implementing a road map for the next five years, and a number of priority joint projects.

In his speech during the meeting, His Excellency Al-Hajri stressed that these meetings reflect the growing relations between the two countries, and constitute another important step towards enhancing common goals and developing cooperation in areas of common interest.

The meeting concluded with the two sides agreeing to hold the next meeting of the committee in Baku, in a step that reflects the two countries’ continued commitment to dialogue and cooperation.

A number of officials from the Ministry of Defence, Justice, Interior, Economy and Tourism, Foreign Trade, Education, Climate Change and Environment, Energy and Infrastructure, and Culture participated in the meeting, in addition to representatives from Abu Dhabi Ports, Mubadala, Holding (ADQ), Masdar, and XRG.
