New Zealand wins the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Championship

Dubai, 2 December / WAM / The Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Championship concluded its competitions by crowning the New Zealand national team with the men’s and women’s titles, in the opening round of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2025-2026, at the conclusion of competitions hosted by “The Sevens” stadium over three days.

The tournament witnessed two summits between the Australian and New Zealand national teams in the men’s and women’s finals, where the New Zealand national team succeeded in winning the men’s match after prevailing 26-22, thanks to a decisive attempt scored by Jayden Keilan, to lead the “All Blacks” to win the title.

In the women’s final, the New Zealand team gave a strong performance, scoring three attempts in the first seven minutes, including two attempts by Jorja Miller, to end the first half with a 17-0 lead. Despite the Australian team’s attempts to come back, New Zealand maintained its superiority to end the match 29-14 and win the title.

Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Juma Al Maktoum, President of the Emirates Rugby Federation, crowned the winners.

Matthew Tait, Festival Director of the Emirates Airline Dubai Rugby Sevens Championship, praised the technical and organizational level of the event, stressing that the current edition presented two days of distinguished international competitions, in addition to a series of accompanying events.
