Baghdad calls on Washington to reconsider travel warnings to Iraq

The Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, called on the United States of America to reconsider travel warnings to Iraq, given the security stability witnessed by the country.
This came according to a statement issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs – reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) – during Minister Fuad Hussein’s meeting with the US Deputy Secretary of State, Michael Rigas, in Baghdad, where ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States were discussed, and follow-up Frameworks of joint cooperation in various political, economic and security fields, and a review of the regional and international challenges facing the region, including efforts to achieve stability, the necessity of supporting dialogue, and the importance of working to reduce tension and build understanding in a way that enhances regional security and stability.
Minister Fouad Hussein pointed out, according to the statement, the importance of reducing regional tension and the role of Iraq in supporting stability efforts, reviewing the political movement that followed the elections, stressing the need to accelerate the formation of the federal government in accordance with Constitutional timings, taking into account the balance between political forces to ensure the regularity of the democratic process and activate the work of Parliament and the government, which contributes to the efficient and effective implementation of government programs.
Hussein praised the positive atmosphere that accompanied the elections and the high participation rates, stressing the importance of maintaining political stability in the country.
He also noted the imminent opening of the American Consulate in Erbil, and what it represents. A step that strengthens diplomatic cooperation between the two countries, stressing the necessity of reopening the American consulate in Basra Governorate.
He stressed the importance of continuing coordination between Iraq and the United States, and continuing cooperation in the fields of economy, infrastructure and investment, in a way that contributes to promoting development and supporting the return of American companies to invest in Iraq.
He called for a reconsideration of travel warnings to Iraq, given the security stability that the country is witnessing, and It contributes to facilitating investment opportunities and economic cooperation.
For his part, the US Deputy Secretary of State expressed his country’s appreciation for the progress made by Iraq in the field of enhancing stability and security, stressing the United States’ support for the efforts made in this context.
He pointed to the importance of continuing regional and international coordination to address common economic, political and security challenges, stressing work to consolidate a positive bilateral relationship with the government. Iraq.
