Speaker of the Arab Parliament: Strengthening the human rights system to build stable Arab societies

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Muhammad Al-Yamahi, stressed that strengthening the human rights system is one of the main foundations for building stable and cohesive Arab societies, stressing the importance of integrating national efforts among all relevant institutions, within a framework of continuous cooperation and coordination in a way that ensures unified visions and complementary roles in serving the Arab citizen.
This came during the speech of the President of the Arab Parliament before the work of the twenty-eighth session of the Charter Committee. The Arab League for Human Rights allocated to discuss the second periodic report submitted by Kuwait, which was held today, Wednesday, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo.
Al-Yamahi said that human rights are not just texts or formal obligations, but rather an integrated system that embodies respect for human dignity, and expresses the will of countries to build a better reality for their citizens, praising the sincere Arab efforts in consolidating the principles of justice, equality, and the rule of law and promoting paths of reform and development in the world. Al-Yamahi appreciated the efforts of Arab countries to regularly submit their periodic reports to the Human Rights Committee, noting that the Arab Parliament views them as a clear indicator of a conscious Arab vision that recognizes the importance of periodic review and self-evaluation as basic tools for developing the human rights system and reflects a high degree of transparency and responsibility and demonstrates seriousness and sincere desire to build, develop and adopt best practices that keep pace with regional and international developments in a way that ultimately achieves and preserves the interest of the Arab citizen. The Speaker of the Arab Parliament also appreciated the sincere efforts made by Kuwait, under the wise leadership of Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, in the field of promoting human rights.
He pointed out that Kuwait has succeeded, through its wise policies and advanced practices, in consolidating its position as a leading Arab model that proves that development in the field of human rights is a strategic choice supported by a conscious political will and vision.
