Dubai Airports consolidates its leadership position in promoting inclusive travel

Dubai, 3 December / WAM / Dubai Airports continues to strengthen its position in providing an inclusive and accessible travel experience, highlighting during the International Day of Persons with Disabilities a year full of successes in the field of accessible and inclusive travel at Dubai International Airport.
According to a press release issued today, the progress achieved by Dubai Airports reflects the United Nations slogan for 2025: “Building societies that include persons with disabilities and advance the path of social progress,” and embodies Dubai Airports’ commitment to its vision to make Dubai International Airport and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport among the most inclusive airports in the world by 2035.
Dubai Airports worked during the Year of Community to develop the travel experience by removing obstacles and rooting the spirit of respect and empathy.
Developments in 2025 included training a record number of airport employees, exceeding 53,000 employees, and cooperating for the first time with consultants specialized in empowering people of determination to support development efforts with their extensive expertise and life experiences.
Airports have developed a facilitating travel experience through comprehensive infrastructure updates, including allocating priority counters for people of determination, activating the sunflower bar program to facilitate the travel of guests of determination with hidden disabilities, installing 520 hearing loops in all airport buildings to improve sound clarity for passengers who use hearing aids, providing the travel planner as a visual electronic guide to help travelers prepare for their travel, and activating wheelchair service from the airport sidewalk to the plane door.
In keeping with its social responsibility, it organized 5 workshops and interactive sessions with advisors to empower people of determination and groups representing all categories of travelers, including the elderly, youth and families. It also organized practical tours to introduce travelers of determination to the facilities available to them and help them and their families adapt to the airport environment.
Dubai Airports also works closely with its partners in the oneDXB airport community – including Emirates Airline, flydubai, Dubai Police, General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Customs, dnata, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Taxi Company, Dubai Duty Free and Dubai Health Authority – to ensure enhanced travel experience at every stage of guests’ journey.
Based on the efforts made, the airport obtained the Autism-Friendly Environment Certificate from the Dubai Autism Center, and was ranked among the five best airports in the world that have received the Accessibility Enhancement Certification from Airports Council International.
Dubai Airport also obtained the Autism-Friendly Environment Certificate from the International Council for Accreditation and Continuing Education Standards, and contributed to Dubai’s achievement of being certified as the first autism-friendly destination in the Eastern Hemisphere.
