Meloni: The outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh summit regarding Gaza are an opportunity that may not be repeated, and Israel must recognize the rights of the Palestinians

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stressed the need to support the outcomes of the Sharm El-Sheikh Summit on Gaza, which were adopted by the international community in order to build a stable and lasting framework for peace, noting that it is an opportunity that may not be repeated and that her country strongly supports.
The Prime Minister of Italy explained – During her speech at the Gulf Cooperation Council summit in Bahrain today – We must work to achieve a two-state solution to ensure security and stability in the Middle East, stressing that this requires Israel’s recognition of the Palestinians’ right to establish their state.
In a related context, Georgia Meloni said, according to a press release, that the Mediterranean Sea occupies only 1% of the world’s water, yet 20% of global maritime traffic passes through it thanks to the Suez Canal.
The Italian Prime Minister proposed hosting the Gulf-Mediterranean Cooperation Council summit in Italy to create a new and ambitious formula for dialogue between the Gulf states and the Mediterranean countries, explaining that the new formula does not aim to compete with other international initiatives, nor to act as an alternative to them, but rather to build on integration, synergy and common strengths.
She indicated that the goal must be to build a joint work platform, focusing on the challenges through which we can make a difference together, pointing out that the first of these challenges lies in developing economic interconnections that are gaining increasing importance in the global economic scene.
Meloni pointed out the goal of doubling cooperation opportunities between Europe, Africa, Italy, and the Arabian Gulf.
