Partnership between "Emirati publishers" and"Start hair" To empower women in the publishing sector

Sharjah, 4 December / WAM / The Emirates Publishers Association has concluded a partnership agreement with the “Publish Hair” initiative, with the aim of providing its growing network with female publishers and expanding its impact in advancing the desired positive change in the global publishing community, in a way that supports achieving the vision and goals of this inspiring international initiative founded by Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi to empower women and promote diversity and equal opportunities between the sexes in this vital sector around the world.

Under the agreement signed today, the two parties will cooperate to highlight the voice of women in the publishing and creative industries sector in the United Arab Emirates and to consolidate their presence at the regional and international levels by opening new horizons for institutional cooperation within the platforms of both parties and creating mutual opportunities for representation, participation, and support of guidance and development programs for women in this sector, in addition to activating joint initiatives in major local and international exhibitions and events.

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, founder of the “Publish Here” initiative and founder and honorary president of the Emirates Publishers Association, said: This partnership represents a firm commitment from both parties to support the pioneering role of women in the publishing sector through practical and influential initiatives. It represents an important new step towards unifying efforts and expanding the circle of influence by providing broader platforms and opportunities for professional empowerment and building international cooperation networks that contribute to creating a more balanced and open publishing environment. It is a clear message that supporting women in the creative industries is a strategic necessity to push the sector towards… Sustainable growth and real change.

She added, “Through this partnership, ambition is united with action to create a more equitable and innovative global publishing system, transforming our joint efforts into a collective driving force towards a future in which opportunities are created for equal leadership for women in the sector.”

For his part, His Excellency Rashid Al-Kous, Executive Director of the Emirates Publishers Association, said that “Public Hair” represents an influential global women’s platform to reshape the features of the publishing industry by addressing the gender gap with a clear, transformative discourse. It is an active society that adopts creative thinking to find realistic and applicable solutions that push towards consolidating equality and addressing aspects of disparity in publishing and the creative industries. We at the Emirates Publishers Association share a common vision and keenness to stimulate the presence of more women in the publishing sector and support their contribution to the process of cultural and social development around the world.

He stressed that the association seeks, through this strategic partnership, to contribute to accelerating the growth of the “Publish Here” community, transform visions into practical steps with a tangible impact, strengthen the initiative and enable its movement aimed at bringing about a real change in the global publishing scene.

Through this partnership, “Publish Here” grants a set of rights that allow the association opportunities to participate in the initiative’s activities and organize sessions within its programs led by female publishers who are members of the association. In return, the association is committed to supporting “Public Here’s” efforts by nominating female speakers to represent it internationally, providing its members’ access to the association’s partners, facilitating the conclusion of cooperation agreements, as well as providing space for it in the association’s pavilion at local book fairs and organizing joint conferences during it, in addition to providing special benefits to “Publish Here” members in the association’s membership.
