A draw with the taste of victory for Syria against Qatar.. “Kharibin is the Arab star”

The Syrian team achieved a 1-1 draw against its Qatari counterpart, today, Thursday, for the second round of the first group competitions of the “Arab Cup 2025” tournament, which is currently being held in Qatar and extends until November 18.

Qatar’s goal came in the 77th minute through substitute player Ahmed Alaa, before “Nusour Qasioun” equalized the score through the star of the tournament, Emirati Al-Wahda player Omar Khribin, in the 89th minute.

The round also witnessed, for the account of the same group, the Palestinian team continuing its strong performance, after it succeeded in overturning a deficit against its Tunisian counterpart by two unanswered goals to emerge tied with a score of (2-2).

The results of the draw led to the teams of Syria and Palestine entering into a partnership at the top of the group teams with four points each, three points behind each of the teams of Qatar and Tunisia, especially since both “Al-Annabi” and “Eagles of Carthage” lost their opening match to Palestine and Syria with the same score (1-0).

The home team got off to a quick start, with an attempt to exploit the defensive gaps of the Syrian team by penetrating through the wings, and it almost paid off in the 22nd minute with a powerful shot by the right winger Mohamed Waad from the six-meter line, but his attempt lacked accuracy. The scene was repeated in the 25th minute through left winger Tariq Salman, who shot from inside the penalty area, but the ball went close to the right post of Syrian national team goalkeeper Elias Hadiya.

The performance of the “Qasioun Eagles” gradually improved, and the players began to be freed from the pressure factor, and the 28th minute witnessed the most dangerous chances of the first half, after the Emirati and Syrian team striker, Omar Khribin, sent a falling ball over Qatar goalkeeper Muhammad Barsham, but the speed of the defender Muhammad Waad’s rebound saved his team by clearing the ball from the goal line. The exchange of pressure between the two teams continued without changing the result, so the first half ended in a goalless draw.

The Qatari team continued its pressure, and its player, Hammam Al-Amin, almost opened the scoring in the 55th minute after a shot from inside the penalty area, but the ingenuity of defender Ahmed Faqa prevented the ball from entering the net. In the 77th minute, Qatari pressure resulted in the lead goal after a cross pass from Edmilson, to which Ahmed Alaa rose with a diving header that landed in the net of goalkeeper Elias Hadaya.

The Syrian team rose up in the last ten minutes, and Omar Khribin succeeded, with an individual effort, in escaping the defensive control and firing a powerful shot from outside the penalty area into the net, announcing the equalizer.

Next Sunday, the group’s teams will resume their matches in decisive confrontations for the third and final round, where the Qatari team will meet its Tunisian counterpart at nine in the evening, while the Syrian and Palestinian teams will meet at the same time.
