UEFA punishes Real Madrid because of one of its fans

The European Football Association (UEFA) imposed a fine on Real Madrid on Friday, after one of its fans performed a Nazi salute before its match against Portuguese Benfica in the Champions League competition last week.
The European Union’s disciplinary body also imposed on the Royal Club a partial closure of a stadium in its stadium with a capacity of 500 seats, suspending the implementation of the penalty for a year under supervision.
Club 15 was also fined about 17 thousand US dollars due to the “racist and discriminatory behavior of its fans” during the second leg of the qualifying play-off to the quarter-finals of the main continental competition, in which it won over Benfica of Portugal 2-1 on February 25, according to an official statement.
Real Madrid expelled one of its fans after video clips showed him performing a Nazi salute in the stands before the start of the match.
The first leg also witnessed an alleged racist incident targeting Brazilian Vinicius Junior, Real striker, by Argentine Gianluca Pristiani, Benfica player, noting that the midfielder denied the accusations against him.
Real Madrid qualified for the round of 16 on aggregate (3-1), where it will face Manchester City of England.
