Mohamed Wehbe takes over as coach of the Moroccan national team, succeeding Regragui

The Moroccan Football Federation announced the appointment of Moroccan coach Mohamed Wehbe as coach of the Atlas Lions, succeeding Walid Regragui, who completed his mission at the head of the technical staff after a period that extended from 2022 to 2026.
The announcement came during a honoring ceremony held by the Federation of Rarakaki, where Federation President Fawzi Lakjaa said that confidence was placed in Wehbe to lead the national team during the next stage.
For his part, Mohamed Wehbe (49 years old) expressed his thanks to the Moroccan Federation and its president for the trust given to him, stressing his awareness of the extent of the responsibility a few months before the start of the 2026 World Cup.
In turn, Regragui said that some stages require “new dynamism, different faces, and a new vision,” noting that the decision to leave came after a comprehensive assessment of the situation and a desire to give the team a new impetus before the World Cup.
