Canada removes Syria from the list of states sponsoring terrorism

The Canadian government removed Syria from the list of foreign states sponsoring terrorism and removed Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham from the list of terrorist entities.

The government stated in a statement on Friday: “These measures are in line with the decisions taken recently by our allies, including the United Kingdom and the United States, and come in the wake of the efforts made by the Syrian transitional government to enhance the stability of Syria, build an inclusive and secure future for its citizens, and work with global partners to promote regional stability and combat terrorism.”
