She attacks me on TV…and asks to take a picture with me

Al Wahda club player Caio Canedo directed sharp criticism at sports analyst Salem Johar, in response to the former Al Ain player’s statements against him on the “Sports Sideburns” program on Ajman TV.

Salem Johar expressed his astonishment at Caio’s participation with the national team in the recent period, saying: “I do not know the reason why Caio Canedo plays in the best clubs in the Emirates and is included in the national team.” He added: “I am over 50 years old, and I am currently 54 years old. If I train for a month, I will become better than Caio.” On the other hand, he responded to a post on the “Instagram” platform addressing Salem Gohar’s statements, and said: “I respect all former players and legends, but throughout my career in Brazil I only played with first-class clubs, and I used to score goals and win titles.”

He continued: “In the Emirates, I played with Al Wasl and Al Ain, and now with Al Wahda, and I scored more than 100 goals with Al Wasl, more than 50 goals with Al Ain, and more than 100 goals in the professional league, which made me among the top six scorers in the history of the tournament.”

He added: “You attack me on television for no reason even though I did nothing to you, but when you meet me in person you ask for a picture with me. I am not currently in the national team and I am having a wonderful season with Al-Wahda, yet you continue to mention my name. I hope that God will bless you with goodness and remove hatred from your heart, and I will pray for you.”

He continued: “Note: I called you captain because I do not know your name.”

Caio Canedo expressed his great disappointment at not being selected for the national team roster currently participating in the Arab Cup, stressing that the decision of coach Olario Cosmin was surprising to him, stressing at the same time his respect for the decision of the “White” coach and his support for the team in the tournament.

Caio told Emirates Al-Youm: “I was hoping to go to Qatar to participate in the Arab Cup, but I respect the coach’s decision. It is a wonderful competition, and provides an opportunity for the teams to test and compete at the highest levels. It is also an opportunity to strengthen the bonds between the players inside and outside the team, as the bonds between the players are wonderful, and my friends who will participate in it represent the team in a distinguished way, and I wish them all the best.”
