Mohammed bin Rashid discusses with the President of Ecuador ways to enhance cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries

Dubai, 7 December / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, “may God protect him,” met today at Zabeel Palace in Dubai, His Excellency Daniel Noboa, President of the Republic of Ecuador, who is on an official visit to the UAE. During the meeting, they discussed ways to enhance paths of cooperation and joint work between the two friendly countries.

The meeting, which was attended by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in the fields of economy, trade, investment, renewable energy and sustainability, in addition to tourism, agriculture, the digital economy and other sectors that constitute a main basis for sustainable development in the two countries, and for the benefit and prosperity of the two countries.

At the beginning of the meeting, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum welcomed His Excellency the President of Ecuador, stressing the UAE’s keenness to expand the circle of its economic and development partnerships with Latin American countries, especially Ecuador, and to consolidate long-term cooperation based on common interests, mutual respect, and common future aspirations.

His Highness stressed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him,” adopts a consistent approach in building effective development partnerships with various countries of the world, based on diversifying sources of growth and enhancing opportunities in the sectors of the new economy, especially renewable energy, the green economy, and the digital economy, in a way that supports the sustainability of development and creates broader horizons for future generations in the two countries.

For his part, His Excellency Daniel Noboa conveyed to His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum the greetings and appreciation of the government and people of Ecuador, and congratulated the leadership and people of the UAE on the occasion of the 54th Union Day, wishing it further progress and prosperity. He also expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s pioneering achievements in various fields, stressing his country’s aspiration to benefit from the Emirati experience in development and construction.

His Excellency stressed Ecuador’s keenness to diversify and expand its economic and investment partnerships with the UAE, and to enhance trade and investment flows between the two countries, in addition to opening new horizons for cooperation in the sectors of tourism, agriculture, renewable energy and modern technologies, which contributes to enhancing economic growth and creating new development opportunities for the two countries.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, President of Dubai Airports, Supreme Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs, His Excellency Reem Ibrahim Al Hashemi, Minister of State for International Cooperation Affairs, His Excellency Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, His Excellency Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the Board and CEO of DP World Group, and His Excellency Ibrahim Salem Al Alawi, UAE Ambassador to Peru and Non-Resident Ambassador to Ecuador.

The meeting was also attended from the Ecuadorian side by Her Excellency Somerfield Rosero María Gabriela, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Human Mobility, His Excellency Roberto Carlos Cory Pesantis, Minister of Communications and Information Society, and His Excellency Felipe Rivadeneira, Ecuadorian Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates.

The meeting witnessed the exchange of views on a number of regional and international issues of common interest, as the two sides stressed the importance of joint work in order to consolidate the foundations of peace and stability at the regional and global levels, as they are a main basis for achieving development and prosperity and enhancing opportunities for cooperation among peoples.

The two sides also expressed their satisfaction with the level of development of bilateral relations between the two countries in recent years, and their aspiration to achieve a qualitative leap in the path of bilateral cooperation during the next stage, by investing in available opportunities and building practical partnerships between the governmental and private sectors in the two countries, in a way that serves common development goals.
