The Prime Minister meets with the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

During his participation in the opening activities of the Third Global Conference of Representatives of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO” In the new capital, on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, met with Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, this morning, with Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in the presence of Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Alaeddin Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, and a number of officials. At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly welcomed Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), expressing his appreciation for choosing Egypt to host the third edition of the Global Conference of Representatives of the Organization, which includes more than 130 of its representatives around the world, in addition to the participation of the organization’s leadership, indicating that this choice reflects an appreciation for the strategic role played by Egypt in the region and its tangible activity in Supporting the activities of “FAO”, stressing the depth of the cooperation relations between Egypt and the organization.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for the long-term strategic partnership between Egypt and the organization since its inception in 1945, as well as sharing the commitment to work towards achieving a world free of hunger by 2030, praising, in this regard, the close cooperation witnessed in the past decades with “FAO”, as well as the organization’s keenness to engage in most agricultural and rural development, food security and other activities. It is one of the areas that are compatible with development priorities in Egypt, stressing Egypt’s readiness to provide all forms of support required to make the Director-General’s visit a success and its outcome in the way hoped for by both sides.
During the meeting, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly referred to the efforts of the Egyptian state to achieve food security within the “Egypt 2030” development vision, and the initiatives that this includes aimed at improving living conditions and reducing hunger rates in strategic priority groups, noting the action plan. The updated report on sustainable agricultural development for the year 2030, the National Food Strategy, and the “Decent Life” initiative, noting the existing cooperation between the “Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development” And FAO.
For his part, Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), expressed his appreciation for the cooperation relations between FAO and FAO. And Egypt, noting Egypt’s important role as one of the founding countries of the “FAO”.
Dr. “Qu Dongyu” discussed the efforts of the “FAO” In supporting the goals of achieving food security and confronting the current challenges on the international scene and their consequences on food security.
The Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, “FAO”, praised the cooperation with Egypt and the support that the organization received from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, expressing his appreciation for the role of President Sisi in providing support to regional countries that have witnessed crises such as the Gaza Strip, and other countries and regions in the region.
Dr. Qu Dongyu also stressed that joint cooperation is the path to a better future.
During the meeting, Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, expressed his aspiration to cooperate with the organization in supporting food security, noting the importance of providing more support to the Gaza Strip and the country. Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty also expressed his appreciation for the cooperation with the organization, and Egypt’s pride in electing and assuming Mina Rizk, unanimously, for the position of President of the Executive Council of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations “FAO”, becoming the first Egyptian to hold this high position since the founding of the organization in 1945.
During the meeting, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, discussed areas of cooperation with “FAO” Efforts to intensify this cooperation, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of tripartite cooperation and “South-South” cooperation – South".
Alaa El-Din Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, expressed his appreciation for the existing cooperation with the FAO, stressing Egypt’s aspiration to intensify bilateral cooperation with the organization.
