Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences participates in a conference in Cairo
Cairo, December 8 / WAM / The Sharjah Academy of Police Sciences participated in the fifth international conference of the Arab Union for Sustainable Development and the Environment, which was held today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States under the slogan “Sustainable Development and the Future of Generations.”
The Academy was represented by Dr. Jamal Al Shehhi, Dean of the Academy, and Dean Dr. Muhammad Khamis Al-Othmani, Director of the Academy.
During his speech at the conference, Al Shehhi stressed that the world is witnessing a broad digital shift that has affected the patterns of communication within the Arab family and the methods of receiving knowledge and education, noting that digital family media has become an essential pillar in enhancing security awareness, especially with the high rates of cybercrimes targeting children and adolescents.
He explained that family media includes electronic content through communication platforms, educational applications, podcasts, and short videos, which contributes to spreading awareness of the dangers of the Internet, supporting the culture of digital citizenship, and expanding the scope of security awareness.
He added that this type of media represents a line of defense in protecting society by providing simplified instructions on protecting devices and passwords and avoiding suspicious links, while enhancing family dialogue to monitor digital use without harming children’s privacy.
For his part, Brigadier General Dr. Muhammad Khamis Al-Othmani stressed that strengthening the role of family media in keeping pace with the digital security transformation is an essential step in building a digitally conscious society, noting that the Academy continues its role as a major partner in preparing security cadres and developing digital awareness programs that support the family and society.
The opening session also witnessed speeches by Dr. Raed Al-Jubouri, Director of the Department of Arab Organizations and Unions at the League of Arab States, and Dr. Ashraf Abdel Aziz, Secretary-General of the Union and President of the Conference, who stressed the importance of innovation and digital transformation and linking the needs of the present with the rights of future generations within the framework of sustainable development goals.
The conference reviewed a number of topics, most notably enhancing Arab integration in environmental and development issues, supporting innovation and sustainable technology, empowering family and children’s issues, spreading environmental awareness, and supporting innovators and entrepreneurs, in addition to discussing topics including sustainable cities and urban transformation, family media and digital transformation towards sustainable awareness and security, and entrepreneurship and innovation in supporting sustainable development and the environment.
