Details of the official competitions for the seventh session of the Cairo International Short Film Festival
The Cairo International Short Film Festival, in its seventh session, which will be held during the period from December 16 to 21, announced a wide participation that includes 54 short films from different countries of the world, all competing through 6 official competitions aimed at diversifying cinematic visions and highlighting Arab and international creative energies.
Participants compete in the competitions The official Cairo International Short Film Festival won 12 “Golden Tower” awards. And the "Silver Tower" Which the festival awards through the 6 competitions.
The competitions open with the “International Film” competition. Which includes 13 films, the makers of which compete for the Golden Tower Award for Best Film and the Silver Tower for the Special Jury, and are supervised by a prestigious jury that includes producer and director Mohamed Hefzy, director Hala Khalil, and star Aisha Bin Ahmed. As for the “Arab Film” competition, It witnesses the participation of 10 short films from the Arab region, and is governed by a committee consisting of the star Basma, the Tunisian director Maryam Ferjani, and the producer Atef Abdel Latif. The seventh session focuses on documentary works through the “Documentary Film” competition. With the participation of 10 short films, under the supervision of a jury consisting of director Mohamed Rashad, director Nada Riad, and editor Heba Othman.
The “Egyptian Film” competition highlights With the participation of 9 short feature films produced by the youth of Egyptian cinema, and governed by the scriptwriter Tamer Habib, the artist Ahmed Magdy, and the artist Arwa Gouda.
The festival dedicates the “Aziza Amir” competition to For best female director, celebrating the role of women in cinema with the participation of 6 films, governed by a women’s committee that includes Ghada Jabbara, Azza Kamel, and Layali Badr.
The competitions conclude with the “Mohamed Bayoumi” competition. For youth and student films, with the participation of 6 short films curated by director Yasser Shafi’i and artistic producer Walid Al-Najjar.
The Cairo International Short Film Festival is chaired by director Waheed Sobhi, and artist and film critic Ahmed El-Nabawy is the director of the festival, while journalist Tamer Bagato holds the position of executive director, in addition to general supervision of the Cairo Film Platform in its session. The first is film critic Ahmed Al-Mesiri.
