Members of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity jury visit Al-Azhar Mosque

The delegation of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity jury visited, Tuesday morning, Al-Azhar Al-Sharif Mosque, as part of the program of visits accompanying the committee’s meetings held in Cairo. The delegation was briefed on the historical and scientific role of Al-Azhar Mosque, and its status as a global scientific beacon that has contributed over centuries to consolidating the values of moderation and moderation, and forming generations of scholars and thinkers from various countries. The delegation’s visit to Al-Azhar Mosque included the mosque’s ancient corridors and courtyard; During which the members of the delegation learned about the nature of the scientific lessons that are held daily in its corridors, and they also met with a number of students at the mosque to learn about the system of academic achievement that combines Islamic sciences with contemporary knowledge, and the influx of tens of thousands of international students that the mosque witnesses annually.

 

 

The delegation also listened to an explanation about the development witnessed by Al-Azhar Mosque in its scientific mission. And advocacy, and they praised its role in promoting coexistence and building bridges between cultures and peoples throughout the ages.

 

 

The visit to Al-Azhar Mosque comes on the occasion of the presence of the Independent International Committee in Cairo, and meetings it is holding this week in Cairo and Rome, to discuss nomination files received from more than 76 countries around the world, which include initiatives in the fields of peace, education, humanitarian work, and promoting Coexistence.

 

 

The jury delegation that visited Al-Azhar Mosque consisted of Judge Mohamed Abdel Salam, Secretary-General of the Award, Charles Michel, former President of the European Council and former Prime Minister of Belgium, Moussa Faki Mahamat, former Chairman of the African Union Commission and former Prime Minister of Chad, and Saida Mirziyoeva, Head of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

 

 

The delegation’s visit to Al-Azhar Mosque confirms the award’s appreciation for the global role played by the Sheikh of Al-Azhar in supporting the path of human brotherhood, promoting dialogue between followers of religions, confronting hate speech, and leading international initiatives that consolidate the values of peace, compassion, and coexistence.
