summit "Bridge 2025" Explores the challenges of privacy and truth in the age of artificial intelligence and digital disinformation

Abu Dhabi, 9 December / WAM / His Excellency Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, Vice Chairman of the Bridge Alliance, led a dialogue session entitled “In the Spotlight: Privacy, Risk and Resiliency in the Age of Misleading News”, within the activities of the “Bridge Summit” 2025, where it hosted both Richard Attias, Strategic Advisor to the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Bridge Alliance, and Cecilia Attias, Founder and President of the Cecilia Attias Foundation for Women, and a member of the Advisory Board of the Bridge Alliance.
The lecturers presented an in-depth discussion about the challenges of the digital age and the responsibility it imposes in dealing with artificial intelligence and social media platforms amid the rise of misleading news. They reviewed the consequences of being in the spotlight and fame and the accompanying risks that affect private life.
In his intervention during the session, Richard Attias linked his academic background in engineering to his current professional career, explaining that he moved from building physical bridges to building bridges of communication between people, driven by his belief that the UAE, with its cultural diversity and coexistence between nationalities, represents an inspiring model of human harmony, which encouraged him to create platforms for dialogue that contribute to reaching solutions.
Attias stressed that the UAE represents an integral part of his personal story, describing it as a country led by leaders who have clear dreams and turn them into tangible reality.
He pointed out that he does not prefer to communicate via social media in general, despite his interest in the “Tik Tok” platform without publishing on it, explaining that these platforms provide great benefits in exchanging knowledge, but at the same time they are filled with an amount of misleading information. He stressed the importance of humans having control over artificial intelligence tools, instead of them imposing their control over them, in light of the growing technological acceleration.
In turn, Cecilia Attias expressed her confidence that everyone who attends the Bridge Summit comes out of it filled with passion, stressing that standing in front of the audience is an advantage that reflects an achievement and a message carried by the person, but this advantage, after entering the spotlight, is accompanied by risks that affect the famous person and his family.
She explained that she learned the need to be careful when talking about her private life and family, and to preserve private moments with oneself, noting that people often create unreal stories about celebrities, which represents one of the most prominent challenges of fame, in addition to daily restrictions such as the difficulty of shopping with family members due to being chased by cameras.
She also pointed out that some media professionals avoid telling the truth and are content with seeking to attract attention and sell publications and news, stressing that the best way to deal with rumors and misleading news is not to be drawn into reactions to them.
Cecilia expressed her deep appreciation for the Emirates, saying: “It is one of the few countries in the world where people are treated objectively and where privacy is maintained. My husband and I did not face any problem throughout our stay here.” She added, “The human warmth that distinguishes the Emirati people is an indispensable value.”
In turn, Richard Attias pointed out that the UAE constitutes a natural environment to host the Bridge Summit as a forum for media and creative talents from around the world. He said: “We are in a country whose people dream and achieve, and this is an exceptional advantage.”
His Excellency Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi concluded the session with a question he directed to Richard and Cecilia about whether they prefer reputation or impact. Richard jokingly replied that reputation is similar to the fickle London weather. It changes every quarter of an hour, while the legacy remains forever. For her part, Cecilia explained that she hopes people will know her through tangible achievements that remain a legacy for future generations.
The session came within the framework of the first session of the Bridge Summit 2025, held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC), with the participation of 430 speakers from 45 countries, including leading innovators, policy makers, investors, technology experts, media institutions, and cultural leaders, presenting more than 300 sessions, divided into seven main tracks: media, content creation economy, art and music, electronic games, technology, marketing, and film industry.
