"Cairo Sciences" Succeed in achieving treatment for incurable disease "Fibromyalgia"

The Faculty of Science at Cairo University announced a pioneering research by a team of researchers from the Department of Biophysics and Zoology in cooperation with researchers from outside the university, which was published in the journal "Life Sciences" The prestigious international publishing house, affiliated with the international publishing house Elsevier, reveals a glimmer of hope for patients with chronic fibromyalgia known as “fibromyalgia”. In the fields of biological and pharmaceutical sciences, with an “Impact Factor” A high of 5.1 during the year 2025.
The President of Cairo University, Dr. Mohamed Sami Abdel-Sadiq, confirmed that the publication of this integrated scientific research is a new testimony to the status of Cairo University and its scholars and its ability to scientific production, which keeps pace with the latest scientific developments globally.
Also, the new research comes in the context of research creativity to provide innovative and serious scientific solutions. To confront one of the most mysterious and complex diseases, which creeps into the lives of millions around the world in painful silence, and manifests itself in a chronic and complex syndrome that appears mainly in widespread pain in the muscles, joints, and soft tissues, accompanied by severe fatigue, sleep disturbances, and difficulty concentrating, a condition known as “fibro fog.”
The university president added that this research team represents a generation of scientists capable of Carrying the banner of scientific research towards broader horizons, Cairo University’s leadership is renewed with it through many scientific achievements that open the doors of knowledge and new windows of hope in taming many incurable diseases, alleviating the pain of patients, transforming pain into hope, and science fiction into a reality that awaits moments and studies for its completion.
For her part, Dean of the Faculty of Science, Suhair Ramadan Fahmy, said that the scientific research team was led by Dr. Haitham Sharaf El-Din, and all participated in it. From Dr. Ayman Saber, Dr. Abdo Kamal, and Dr. Ahmed Al-Abd, along with researcher Nourhan Al-Khouly, a doctoral student, he has reached results that will revolutionize the fight against the disease worthy of global celebration.
The team presented an innovative and pioneering experimental therapeutic approach from the heart of the cell itself, based on the concept of transferring healthy mitochondria, which is considered a "Energy Factories" In the cell, the transfer aimed to compensate for cellular dysfunction and reduce the oxidative stress associated with the disease, and led to a noticeable and positive improvement in the neurological and behavioral responses associated with the symptoms. “Fibromyalgia”, and opens the door of hope in the future for promising prospects for developing regenerative therapies. It depends on targeting the mitochondrial defect directly in the future.
Cairo University stated that “fibromyalgia” It affects the quality of life of millions around the world due to its widespread pain, chronic fatigue, and the difficulty of treating it. Its discovery and diagnosis are still surrounded by an atmosphere of difficulty, and it may turn into a mysterious pain that hides the secrets and symptoms of its infection. It also still lacks conclusive laboratory tests to diagnose its infection, and it is surrounded by ambiguity that makes any serious research step a torch that illuminates the paths of the unknown, which is what the new scientific research of the research team at the Faculty of Science at Cairo University has achieved.
