The UAE strongly condemns the raid by Israeli forces on the UNRWA headquarters in Jerusalem
Abu Dhabi, December 10 / WAM / The UAE strongly condemned the raid by Israeli forces on the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in Jerusalem, and the accompanying measures that hinder the agency from carrying out its basic work in the occupied Palestinian territory.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the active and main role played by UNRWA in providing humanitarian aid to the brotherly Palestinian people, especially in light of the difficult circumstances they are going through as a result of the continuing deteriorating humanitarian conditions.
The Ministry stressed that these practices contradict the provisions of the United Nations Charter and international norms, and represent a serious violation that would exacerbate the critical humanitarian situation, stressing the need to enable UNRWA and other United Nations agencies and organizations to play their role in delivering humanitarian aid to those in need urgently, safely, and without any obstacles.
The UAE also stressed the need to support all regional and international efforts aimed at advancing the peace process in the Middle East and putting an end to the illegal practices that threaten the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
The UAE reaffirmed its firm commitment to promoting peace and justice and preserving the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, in accordance with international law and international efforts to protect civilians.
