Strong competition in the fifth edition of the UAE Mixed Martial Arts Championship in Al Ain

Al Ain, December 13, 2017 – The competitions of the fifth edition of the Emirates National Mixed Martial Arts Championship, organized by the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, began today over two days in the gymnasium at the UAE University in the Al Ain region, with the participation of 300 male and female players from emerging talents representing various clubs and academies across the country.

The first day witnessed strong competitions in the categories of Junior D (10-11 years), Junior C (12-13 years), and Junior B (14-15 years).

His Excellency Mohammed bin Dalmuj Al Dhaheri, a member of the Board of Directors of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, said that this tournament reflects the qualitative development that the sport of mixed martial arts has reached in the UAE, thanks to the continuous support of the wise leadership and the tireless efforts made by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation. We are pleased to see this large number of male and female players in small age groups, which confirms the success of the federation’s plans in building a solid base of talent capable of representing the country in the future in regional and international forums.

He stressed that the interaction of the clubs and academies, in addition to the public attendance, reflects the growing community awareness of the importance of combat sports and its role in promoting healthy lifestyles and building character, pointing to the Federation’s keenness to continue developing the tournaments in terms of organization and technical level, in keeping with the best international practices and strengthening the UAE’s position as a leading regional center in this sport.

For his part, Rahmatullah Lotfallah, coach of the ADMA Academy team, said that the players had been waiting for this competition and preparing for it for a long time, and a large number of them succeeded in reaching the finals, and we achieved a number of awards, and we aspire to achieve first place, as it is the goal for which we came. This tournament is of great importance, as it gives the players a professional environment to develop their skills, which enhances its importance in preparing them for future competitions.

The tournament will conclude its activities tomorrow with competitions in the youth categories A (16-17 years) and adults (18 years and above).
