Sharjah Police recorded more than 30,000 violations for non-compliance with designated lanes

The Sharjah Police General Command has recorded more than 30,000 violations since the implementation of the decision to regulate the use of lanes designated for motorcycles, including delivery bikes, heavy vehicles, and buses, which came into force as of last November 1, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance traffic safety on the emirate’s roads.

Sharjah Police confirmed that the observed violations were the result of some drivers not adhering to the mandatory lanes and lanes specified for each category of vehicles in accordance with the Federal Traffic Law. Article 8 stipulates the imposition of a fine of 1,500 dirhams and 12 traffic points for heavy vehicles not adhering to the mandatory lane, while Article 70 stipulates the imposition of a fine of 500 dirhams for failure to adhere to traffic signs and instructions.

She also stressed that monitoring operations are continuing through smart radars and modern cameras, in addition to traffic patrols. With the aim of ensuring that regulations are implemented to achieve the highest levels of safety for all road users.

The Sharjah Police General Command called on all road users, including bike drivers, heavy vehicles and buses, to adhere to the designated lanes and follow traffic instructions, stressing that commitment directly contributes to protecting lives, enhancing traffic flow, and creating a safer road environment for everyone.
