The first session to review trends in global tourism markets and visions of the Egyptian tourist destination

Within the framework of the activities of the forum and workshop opened by Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, today, under the title “The Role of Data in Enhancing the Formulation of the Mental Image of Tourist Destinations Digitally,” which is organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in cooperation with the global TripAdvisor platform, the first session was held to discuss global tourism market trends and visions about the Egyptian tourist destination.
The session witnessed a presentation for ” Tim Scofield, the main partner for customer relationship management at the TripAdvisor global platform, which is one of the largest global electronic platforms specialized in travel and tourism, explained that about 80% of travelers are keen to review reviews of tourist destinations before making a travel decision, which contributes to ensuring the quality of the tourist experience during the trip. He stressed that the Egyptian tourist destination is distinguished by the authenticity and diversity of the tourist experiences it offers, noting that visitor reviews on the TripAdvisor platform reflect the presence of growing passion and interest from a large number of major tourist markets in Egypt, in addition to the high rates of tourists’ desire to Repeat the visit and share tourism experiences through various digital platforms.
He added that the evaluations of the Egyptian destination, especially during the current and past years, were remarkably positive, which reflects the excellence of the tourism experience that Egypt offers to its visitors. He also touched on the role of artificial intelligence and its growing impact on travel planning and reservation processes, pointing out that an increasing segment of tourists are now relying on artificial intelligence techniques to organize their trips.
He also referred to the partnerships established by the TripAdvisor platform with the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion to promote Egyptian destinations, which relied on rediscovering Egypt and its tourism and archaeological components, and highlighting the diversity of its tourism products and its ability to provide multiple experiences that meet various interests and tastes. He stressed that the large amount of data and evaluations resulting from travelers’ experiences represents a wealth of knowledge that can be used in efforts to promote Egypt during the next stage.
After that, a discussion session was held entitled “Egypt: Unparalleled Diversity… One Destination and Multiple Experiences,” moderated by Professor Rana Gohar, Advisor to the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Communication and External Relations and General Supervisor of the General Administration of International Relations and Agreements at the Ministry, with the participation of Eng. Ahmed Youssef, CEO of the Egyptian General Authority. for tourism promotion, Mr. Karim Mohsen, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Travel and Tourism Companies and Agencies, Mr. Karim Al-Manbawi, member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors and Chairman of the Foreign Tourism Committee, and Mr. Sherif Al-Ghamrawi, founder of “Bassat Ecolodge.” And the President of the Sustainable Tourism Association.
The session discussed ways to highlight the tourism diversity of the Egyptian destination to tour operators, tourism companies and their clients, which contributes to attracting more tourists by providing integrated tourism programs that reflect the richness and multiplicity of Egyptian tourism products, whether traditional or new, and in a way that meets different categories and interests of tourists.
The efforts made by the Ministry to develop current tourism products and innovate new products in line with the Ministry’s strategy and vision were also reviewed, in addition to highlighting The role of the Egyptian General Authority for Tourism Promotion and the various promotional tools it relies on, including cooperation with professional partners and organizing introductory trips to promote the Egyptian tourist destination.
The participants stressed the importance of tourism companies developing methods for presenting tourism programs, and presenting the Egyptian destination in an innovative way that highlights the diversity of experiences, tourist activities and different attractions, which contributes to creating a passion among tourists for an integrated and distinct tourism experience.
At the conclusion of the session, Mr. Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, thanked the speakers. He contributed to the rich discussions, stressing that tourism is based primarily on the experiences and activities that the tourist practices during his visit. He also stressed the importance of intensifying marketing efforts for the Egyptian destination, highlighting the possibility of combining different tourism products, and promoting the idea of “a tourist destination within a tourist destination,” in addition to the necessity of understanding the trends and interests of the target tourist when developing marketing plans.
The Minister also stressed that Egypt possesses unique and diverse tourism components that must be worked to highlight optimally, Stressing that tourism is based on the freedom, security and safety of movement.
The session was attended by Professor Youmna Al-Bahar, Deputy Minister, Dr. Ahmed Ghoneim, CEO of the Grand Egyptian Museum Authority, Mr. Ahmed Obaid, Assistant Minister for Diwan Affairs and Permanent Undersecretary of the Ministry, Engineer Mustafa Ali El-Din Imam, Assistant Minister for Affairs of the Minister’s Office, Professor Samia Sami, Assistant Minister for Tourism Company Affairs, and a number of ministry leaders.
