المملكة: “Geological Survey”: No losses as a result of the earthquake in Sharqiya – Urgent

The Saudi Geological Survey officially announced that no human or material losses were recorded as a result of the earthquake that was monitored by the National Network at dawn today, Wednesday, in the Eastern Province, with a magnitude of 4 on the Richter scale.

The Authority attributed the causes to natural tectonic pressures, stressing at the same time the safety of the population and the limited seismic impact of the event.

Earthquake at a depth of 8 kilometers

The location of the earthquakewith extreme accuracy at the coordinates of latitude “24.1323” north and longitude “49.1572” east, which is a geographical point specifically located 9 kilometers east of the center of Haradh.

The geological situation is safe

The Authority’s official spokesman, Tariq Aba Al-Khail, explained that the weak recorded seismic magnitude prevented any significant damage, reassuring everyone that The geological situation in the region is stable and does not cause concern.

Aba Al-Khail revealed the scientific reasons behind the incident, attributing it to the tectonic pressures resulting from the collision of the Arabian plate with the Eurasian plate in the Iranian Zagros Mountains.

This continuous regional tectonic movement caused the reactivation of the underlying faults in the earth’s crust in the Haradh region, which generated energy that was discharged in the form of an earthquake. Tangible.

Geological monitoring teams continue to monitor seismic activity in the eastern region and all regions of the Kingdom through an advanced network of stations, to ensure rapid response and provide accurate information to the concerned authorities.
