Hamdan bin Mohammed directs formation "Research, development and innovation system in Dubai"

DUBAI, 17 DECEMBER, WAM / His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Dubai Future Foundation, today directed the formation of a “Research, Development and Innovation System in Dubai” under the supervision of the Dubai Future Foundation, and the appointment of Khalifa Al Qama as Chairman of Research, Development and Innovation at the Foundation to supervise this system and implement its goals.
The research, development and innovation system in Dubai will be an umbrella for all current and future projects and initiatives in the fields of research, development and innovation, and will support various government and private agencies in Dubai and the UAE in developing new qualitative ideas based on the latest technologies and advanced technological applications.
This integrated system will lead the efforts of several research laboratories, including the “Dubai Future Laboratories” and the “Sensible City Global Laboratory in Dubai,” and will continue implementing the goals of many national programs supervised by the Dubai Future Foundation, including the “Dubai Research, Development and Innovation Programme,” and the “Dubai Robotics and Automation Programme.”
This system will also oversee the modernization of legislation concerned with supporting research, development and innovation through the “Dubai Sandbox” initiative, which aims to develop the legislative and innovative system in Dubai in cooperation with the government sector, legislative bodies, and major local and international companies in various sectors.
The research, development and innovation system in Dubai will strengthen partnerships with universities, academic institutions and national and international research centres, and will contribute to providing support for promising research projects through the “Dubai Research, Development and Innovation Support Initiative”.
