Officially… the resumption of the UAE-Saudi Arabia match in the Arab Cup after the heavy rains stopped

The in-house announcer for Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar announced that the match between the UAE and Saudi Arabia to determine third place in the Arab Cup will be resumed before the end of the second extension period, which was granted by Chilean match referee Cristian Garay to prepare the field to receive the second half.

The first extension period had ended due to water accumulating on the pitch, which prompted the referee to extend the pause period to give the pitch enough time to become fit to resume play, after a long pause imposed by the heavy rain that the stadium witnessed.
Khalifa International Stadium officials had intensified their field efforts, with the participation of about 100 workers, to withdraw water from the field and prepare it for the completion of the match, in an attempt to overcome the delay and ensure the stadium’s readiness before returning to play.
