The UAE women’s national team wins the Gulf Cricket Championship

Muscat, December 20 / WAM / The UAE women’s national team was crowned champion of the Gulf T20 Cricket Championship, after defeating its Omani counterpart, the host of the tournament, in the final match that was held yesterday evening in the capital, Muscat.
The UAE national team achieved the full mark in the tournament, which began on December 12 with the participation of 6 teams, after opening its campaign by defeating the Omani national team, then continuing its victories over the Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain national teams, to reach the final match and renew its victory over the Oman national team, winning the title well-deservedly.
Zayed Abbas, a member of the Emirates Cricket Council and the official spokesman for the Council, confirmed that winning the Gulf Cup represents a new achievement added to the career of the women’s team, which succeeded months ago in obtaining the international classification, and then continued its strong presence at the Gulf and Arab levels.
Abbas explained that the Board of Directors began five years ago to implement a plan to develop women’s cricket, with the aim of raising female players to the level of professionalism, by providing the necessary technical and administrative support, which reflected positively on the team’s results and its rapid development.
